KL Rat Race 2011

SEPTEMBER 20, 2011, KUALA LUMPUR — The sky was a gunmetal grey, and for several hours it threatened to pour down on the colourful, boisterous, loud and most of all excited crowd gathered in front of the Bursa Malaysia building at Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur. But even the gloomy atmosphere did nothing to deter the crowd, and may have even caused the thunderous storm clouds to lay off the rain, because in the end, only a light drizzle greeted the runners and the supporters of the KL Rat Race 2011, a charity run organised by Bursa Malaysia and The Edge which has become a long-standing fixture of the Kuala Lumpur corporate scene.

KL Rat Race 2011

Into this lively atmosphere were five contestants from a company which had, for the first time in its 10-year history, decided to test their mettle for a good cause. Yes, for the first time in our history, iPerintis had decided to enter a team into the 4.5 km race – five brave individuals, running in their office attire, and all for a good cause.

KL Rat Race 2011

Who were these five individuals? They were, under no particular order, Johan Affendi, the Program Manager of the Volumetric Pricing Model (VPM) Project, Ganesh Kanagarajah, Head of the iPerintis Security Office, Johanna Ibrahim, our new Head of Legal, Izwan Ibrahim, General Manager for Business Development & Client Management, and last but certainly not least, John Miller, our illustrious CEO, who not only decided to run in the main race, but also decided to compete in the CEO race, beforehand. Now that's what we call working up a sweat!

KL Rat Race 2011

All five of our team-members performed admirably during the event itself — John performed very respectably during the first CEO race, and reports that he was pleased with his results, especially since he managed to overtake the CEO of one of our partners, Accenture, in that race. Not only did John do well on the first CEO race, he managed to do well in the race immediately after that, in the Open category! Of all the five who joined the race, he was the first iPerintisian to cross the finish line!

KL Rat Race 2011

All in all, it was an awesome ending to a pretty good start of what, we all hope, will be a long-standing iPerintis tradition.
